4/17/2009 - Berwick Academy 17 v. Beaver Country Day 2
Today, Friday the 17th of April, the Berwick Academy Varsity Lacrosse team competed against Beaver Country Day. It was the team's second home game, the fans came out to lend their support, and the day was picture perfect.
Berwick jumped out to a quick lead and took advantage of Beaver's bus legs; by the end of the first quarter the Bulldogs had a commanding 7-0 lead. At halftime, the score was 9-0, and Berwick did not look back at that time. Peter Jenkinson spearheaded the offense with 4 goals and 5 assists. However, fellow attackman Ethan Fishbaugh and Tom Hay also contributed by pitching in another 5 goals.
Most impressive was the Berwick's "go to work" attitude on their ride; the team capitalized on their blue collar work ethic and were able to turn ground balls and turnovers into scoring opportunities.
The Bulldogs move to 2-3 for the season, and will play again tomorrow, Saturday the 18th of April, when the host Portsmouth Abbey and look to move their record to .500 for the season.
