Bancroft School

4/30/2009 - Berwick Academy 8 Bancroft School 5

BA Keeps Undefeated Record on Home Field
This Wednesday, Berwick Academy played host to Bancroft School. Both teams had great records coming into the contest, and it was clear that it was going to be good game from the start.

In the first quarter, the two teams traded tallies and it was tied at two goals apiece at the end of the first frame. However, in the second quarter, Berwick ratcheted up their efforts and behind the play of some great defending by Chris Atwood and Aaron Harris the Bulldogs of Berwick were able to pull out to a small lead.

In the second half, Berwick did not play a perfect game however their efforts were rewarded, and they protected their lead as they turned away the offensive bids of Bancroft. Offensively, Phil Rummuno led the way for Berwick. A senior and a great two-way player, Phil Rummuno had three goals in yesterday’s match; however, he has been tenacious in the mid-field leading the team in ground balls and being a presence on the man-up unit.

As a result of yesterday’s win, the team remains undefeated on their home field; this fact continues to be a source of pride for the men of the varsity lacrosse team and the coaching staff. This Friday, the team will travel to North Andover to compete against the Brooks School.
